Who is "POKEY"
"POKEY" the famous horse from Allamuchy, New Jersey... has overcome tragedies in his life from being an orphaned colt to surviving a horrible trailer accident in 1998. He was not supposed to ever compete in shows or do parades again... Pokey has proven...that with drive and determination, he can do anything. The children love POKEY for who he is and for how he makes them feel.
Pokey and his pals are micro chipped and registered with the American Grade Horse Association.

Pokey has been a crowd favorite for many years...
...Dancin' and prancin' down Main Street, holding his head high...
Kickin' up the dust running barrels or chasin' cows in the show ring...
Or just plain, being himself...giving kisses and hugs or doing his silly tricks for the kids...
From his days at the Flemington Fair and Leading the Allamuchy Day Parade...
to the Warren County Farmer's Fair, and his birthday parties...
To having "SPECIAL GUESTS" at POKEY'S PLACE,
He continues to make children smile and makes their dreams come true. The story of a horse named ... "POKEY".
"I saw a child who couldn't walk, sit on a horse, laugh and talk. Then ride it through a field of daisies and yet he could not walk unaided. I saw a child, no legs below, Sit on a horse and make it go through woods of green and places he'd never been to sit and stare, except from a chair. I saw a child who could only crawl, Mount a horse and sit up tall. Put it through degrees of paces and laugh at the wonder in our faces. I saw a child born into strife, Take up and hold the reins of life And that same child was heard to say, Thank God, for showing me the way..." ...JA Davies
"POKEY'S PLACE" is a dream ... someday it will be a place where kids with handicaps, life-threatening illnesses and other hardships can come visit Pokey's Pals. There will be a petting zoo and riding lessons and story time... A place where kids and their families can come and get away from it all. Yes, for now it is only a dream and someday I hope to make it happen. You can help... we accept donations by check, and NOW you can use www.PAYPAL.com . (ACCT.: welovepokey@msn.com) THANK YOU.
